What Kinds Of Vacation Rentals Will You Find In Key West?

by Gonzalo Gomez

It seems that every vacation spot has its own type of accommodations. If you vacation on the Tennessee River, for example, you can expect to stay in a cabin. If you vacation in New York City, you'll probably stay in a high-rise building. But what if you visit Key West? What kinds of accommodations can you expect to stay in? As it turns out, there are a few different kinds of accommodations that are common on this Florida island.

Beachfront Cottages

There are a number of beachfront cottages located on Key West. Many of these are on the older side, so they may not have the most modern kitchens and amenities. However, they do generally offer direct beachfront access. If you want to wake up in the morning and immediately enjoy the sound of waves crashing into the shore, along with a view of the coast, then a beachfront cottage is a great place to stay. The older buildings and simpler amenities can make these places feel cozier and homier to some people. Beachfront cottages are also good for larger groups since you have a bit more privacy and a whole place to yourself.

Condos

Many of the newer accommodations on Key West are modern, more luxurious condominiums. Some of the high-rise buildings have dozens of condo units within them. They tend to have higher-end amenities like spa-style bathrooms and eat-in kitchens. There also tend to be community amenities that anyone who rents the condo has access to. These include pools, fitness centers, office spaces, and even playgrounds.

The downside to staying in a luxury condo is that when you're inside, you are not always aware that you're in Key West. There's also a bit less privacy than in a cottage. However, some people really enjoy the higher-end nature of these spaces.

In-Land Houses

There are also a number of whole homes you can rent further inland on Key West. Most of these are private homes that the owners lease out when they are not using them. These homes tend to be a good choice when you're traveling with a big group. They're often less expensive to rent than a beachfront cottage since they don't have direct water access. Each home is different, so you should be able to find one with the amenities you need.

If you're planning to visit Key West, consider which of these types of accommodations you'd prefer. There's so much variety on the island, making it an ideal vacation spot.
